Terms and Conditions

Last updated: July 2026

These Terms & Conditions apply when you use the STB Therapies website, contact the practice, book an appointment, or receive services from STB Therapies.

By booking an appointment, you agree to these Terms & Conditions, the Client Agreement & Informed Consent, the Privacy Policy, and the Cancellation & Refund Policy.

About STB Therapies

STB Therapies is operated by:

Susan Braithwaite Dip. ACHMT, HPD, MNCH (Reg)
Clinical Hypnotherapist

Appointments are available:

  • in person at The Wellness Cottage in Cumbernauld Village; The Hive in Airdrie; and
  • online, where appropriate.

Nature of the service

STB Therapies provides clinical hypnotherapy and may also use approaches including relaxation, mindfulness, EFT, NLP and CBT-informed techniques where appropriate and within professional competence.

Hypnotherapy is a collaborative process and outcomes cannot be guaranteed.

STB Therapies does not:

  • diagnose medical or mental health conditions;
  • prescribe medication;
  • advise you to stop or change medication;
  • replace medical, psychiatric or psychological care;
  • provide emergency or crisis support; or
  • guarantee a particular result.

You should continue to follow advice from your GP, consultant or other healthcare professional.

Eligibility and suitability

STB Therapies currently works with adults aged 18 and over.

A booking does not automatically mean that hypnotherapy will be suitable.

Before or during the initial appointment, I may assess whether:

  • the presenting issue is within my scope of practice;
  • hypnotherapy is appropriate;
  • additional information is needed;
  • consent can be given freely and meaningfully; or
  • another service or healthcare professional may be more suitable.

I may decline, postpone, pause or end therapy where I believe it would be unsafe, inappropriate, outside my competence or not in the client’s best interests.

Where appropriate, I will explain the reason and offer reasonable signposting.

Appointments

Appointments normally last 60 minutes.

Please arrive or log in on time. If you are late, the appointment may still need to end at the scheduled time and the full fee will remain payable.

If there is not enough time to conduct the session safely or effectively, the appointment may need to be treated as a late cancellation.

Appointments may be stopped or not begun if:

  • you appear to be under the influence of alcohol or recreational drugs;
  • informed consent cannot be established;
  • the setting is unsafe or unsuitable;
  • required information has not been provided; or
  • your needs are outside the scope of the service.

Fees and payment

The fee for a 60-minute appointment is £80.

£40 deposit is required to secure the appointment. The deposit forms part of the total session fee.

The remaining balance is payable before or at the appointment.

Payment may be made by:

  • card;
  • bank transfer; or
  • cash.

Appointments are not secured until any required deposit has been received.

Cancellations, rescheduling, and refunds

At least 48 hours’ notice is required to cancel or rearrange an appointment.

Where at least 48 hours’ notice is given, the deposit will normally be transferred to a replacement appointment.

Where less than 48 hours’ notice is given, or where the client does not attend, the deposit is normally non-refundable.

Further details are set out in the STB Therapies Cancellation & Refund Policy.

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions affects your statutory rights.

Online appointments

For online appointments, you are responsible for ensuring that you have:

  • a stable internet connection;
  • a working telephone available as a backup;
  • a private and safe space;
  • sufficient uninterrupted time;
  • no driving, cooking, caring responsibilities or other activity requiring attention during the session.

You must provide your current physical location when requested.

If the connection fails, I may contact you by telephone or follow the agreed backup procedure.

An online session may be stopped or rearranged if privacy, safety or meaningful consent cannot be maintained.

Client responsibilities

You agree to:

  • provide accurate and relevant information;
  • tell me about important changes in your health, medication, treatment or circumstances;
  • attend without impairment from alcohol or recreational drugs;
  • ask questions where anything is unclear;
  • tell me if you feel uncomfortable or wish to pause or stop;
  • follow agreed safety instructions;
  • use any recordings or resources only as directed;
  • take responsibility for seeking medical or emergency help where needed.

Therapy is collaborative. Progress may depend on your circumstances, readiness, engagement and actions between sessions.

Communication

Telephone, email and WhatsApp Business may be used for administrative communication, including:

  • appointment arrangements;
  • form queries;
  • practical updates;
  • payment matters; and
  • agreed follow-up information.

These channels are not continuously monitored and must not be used for crisis support or emergencies.

Therapeutic support is normally provided during scheduled appointments unless otherwise agreed.

Confidentiality

Information shared during therapy is treated as confidential, subject to legal, safeguarding and safety limits.

Further details are contained in the Client Agreement & Informed Consent and Privacy Policy.

Ending therapy

You are not required to book a minimum number of sessions unless a separate written package agreement has been made.

You may decide not to book further sessions at any time.

STB Therapies may also end therapy where:

  • the work is outside scope or competence;
  • the therapeutic relationship is no longer effective;
  • boundaries are repeatedly breached;
  • relevant information has been withheld;
  • appointments are repeatedly missed or cancelled;
  • payment remains outstanding;
  • another service is more appropriate; or
  • continuing would not be in the client’s best interests.

Any booked appointments remain subject to the Cancellation & Refund Policy.
